Nomination process for the Board and Supervisory committees

As a member-owned, not-for-profit financial cooperative, Oregon State Credit Union is governed by a Board of Directors who are elected by and from its membership to three year terms. The Board of Directors is the cornerstone of governance, providing strategic direction and monitoring risks and control systems. The Credit Union and its members are best served with a diverse group of Board Members offering a range of skills, business experience, community involvement and knowledge of financial services.

In addition to the Board of Directors, Oregon State Credit Union is also served by a Supervisory Committee made up of members appointed by the Board of Directors to serve three year terms. Credit Union Supervisory Committee members serve as a kind of watchdog for the members, ensuring the Credit Union’s financial records are in order and that internal controls are in place to protect the assets of the Credit Union and its members.

The nomination and application process for those interested in running for election to the Board of Directors in 2025 will close on September 30, 2024. Applications received after that date will be considered for the 2026 elections.

Petition alternative for candidates to run for Board of Directors

Oregon State Credit Union members may also submit a petition to nominate a member to run for election to the Board by taking the following steps:

  1. Obtain a petition packet. Packets are available at any of our branches.

  2. Verify that the member you wish to nominate is willing to serve.

  3. Have the member sign a Certificate of Willingness to Serve, included with the petition packet.

  4. Have the member complete an Oregon State Credit Union Official Family Application.

  5. Collect member signatures on the nominating petition form included with the petition packet. In accordance with credit union bylaws, at least 500 member signatures are required to nominate a candidate by petition.

    • Note: Signers must be current members of Oregon State Credit Union. (A member is the primary account holder whose name appears first on an Oregon State Credit Union membership account.)

  6. Return the fully competed packet to Oregon State Credit Union, attention Nominating Committee.

Successful petition packages received by the Credit Union by October 31, 2024 would qualify for the Board elections in 2025. Successful petitions received after that deadline will instead qualify for the Board elections in 2026.
